Reuters has a long article on the Chinese language government APT attack referred to as Cloud Hopper. It was a lot greater than originally reported.
The hacking marketing campaign, often known as "Cloud Hopper," was the topic of a U.S. indictment in December that accused two Chinese nationals of id theft and fraud. Prosecutors described an elaborate operation that victimized a number of Western corporations however stopped in need of naming them. A Reuters report at the time recognized two: Hewlett Packard Enterprise and IBM.
Yet the campaign ensnared no less than six more major know-how companies, touching 5 of the world's 10 largest tech service suppliers.
Additionally compromised by Cloud Hopper, Reuters has discovered: Fujitsu, Tata Consultancy Providers, NTT Knowledge, Dimension Knowledge, Pc Sciences Corporation and DXC Know-how. HPE spun-off its providers arm in a merger with Pc Sciences Corporation in 2017 to create DXC.
Waves of hacking victims emanate from those six plus HPE and IBM: their shoppers. Ericsson, which competes with Chinese companies within the strategically essential cellular telecoms enterprise, is one. Others embrace travel reservation system Sabre, the American leader in managing aircraft bookings, and the most important shipbuilder for the U.S. Navy, Huntington Ingalls Industries, which builds America's nuclear submarines at a Virginia shipyard.
